Meet Your Teachers

The foundation of Gypsy Waltz Studios began with yogaβ€”movement connected to breath, intention, and the opportunity to become stronger from the inside out. While yoga will always be an important part of who we are, Gypsy has grown into so much more.

Today, our studios bring together a wide variety of movement and training styles, including yoga, cycling, rowing, barre, TRX, kettlebells, strength training, Pilates-inspired movement, rebounder classes, mobility, and more. Each modality offers something different, giving you the freedom to challenge your body, explore new ways to move, and find what serves you best in the season you’re in.

Just as no two classes are exactly alike, neither are our instructors. We believe in giving our teachers the freedom to bring their own training, personality, creativity, and strengths into the room while remaining rooted in the heart and standards of Gypsy.

What connects us isn’t one type of workout. It’s our purpose. Whether you’re on a yoga mat, bike, rower, barre, or picking up a kettlebell, our hope is that you leave stronger, more grounded, more connected, and reminded that movement can impact far more than your physical body.

At Gypsy, we believe there is something powerful about trying something new, supporting one another, and continuing to show up.

Different movement. Different teachers. One community. One purpose.

Christy Stransky

Founder and Owner

Certified Instructor in All Gypsy Modalities

I want to start by saying how honored I am to have you here. Whether you’re just discovering Gypsy Waltz or you’ve been a part of this journey for years, know that you are deeply appreciated. This space was created for you.

Through my journey in the years of owning Gypsy Waltz, I’ve come to understand something profound: everyone has a story, and every story deserves to be heard. Each person who walks through these doors carries their own journeyβ€”struggles, triumphs, moments of doubt, and breakthroughs. Gypsy Waltz was never meant to be just a fitness studio; it was meant to be a homeβ€”a place where you can come exactly as you are and be seen, supported, and loved.

The Journey to Gypsy Waltz

I’ve always been a gypsy at heartβ€”a lover of travel, culture, and the pursuit of personal growth. My passion for experiencing the world, meeting new people, and embracing different ways of life is what ultimately led me to build something deeply meaningful.

My introduction to yoga was almost serendipitous. While living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, a dear friend invited me to a class, knowing I needed this practice more than I realized at the time. From the very first moment, I was hooked. The meditation, movement, and breathwork provided something I didn’t even know I was missing. That one hour in the studio became a sanctuaryβ€”a space where fear, anxiety, and expectations melted away. It grounded me, gave me clarity, and transformed me in ways I never expected.

That experience ignited a fire in me. I spent years exploring studios across the world, immersing myself in different practices, and learning from every culture I encountered. But more than anything, I discovered something simple yet profound:

Love is universal.

Everyone is allowed to have love and be loved.

Every story matters.

With this realization, Gypsy Waltz was bornβ€”not just as a studio, but as a movement, a community, and a place where people can find themselves, heal, and connect with others in a way that transcends words.

The Heartbeat of Gypsy Waltz

Owning this studio has taught me to never compromise on my values, to always move forward with faith, and to never look back in fear. My mission has never been about changing people but rather creating a space where people can discover the strength that was within them all along.

This is your journey.

This is your space.

I simply provide the foundationβ€”you are the one who makes Gypsy Waltz extraordinary.

Every single person who steps into our studio is a hero in their own right. You are the reason this community thrives, and I am endlessly grateful for each and every one of you.

So, no matter where you are in lifeβ€”whether you’re looking for renewal, growth, or just a place to breatheβ€”know that you belong here. You are seen, you are valued, and you are deeply loved.

With gratitude & love,

Christy

  • Janice Canion

    Cardio Instructor New Braunfels

Hi I’m Janice, I just moved here from Puyallup Washington. Finding a gym was the first thing on my to do list and I am thankful to have found GWY.

I started my fitness journey in high school swimming, playing water polo and lifeguarding. I took those skills and used them at Fort Lewis teaching all ages swim lessons, water aerobics and coaching the swim team. I moved on to managing the military training pool where I taught pool physical training, combat water survival and vehicle rollover training. After about 13 years in aquatics I stepped away to volunteer at my children’s school and regularly attend a gym.

I really enjoyed being in group fitness but missed my teaching days so I got certified to teach Barre and it was exactly what I was looking for. I love all of the different styles it offers and that anyone can do it. I am excited to serve my new community in their fitness journey and hope to see you in class!

  • Marlene McKinney

Starting with my very first Core26 class back in 2005 to finding my true love in Buti Movement, this practice truly connects my mind, body and spirit. Gypsy is where we are given the space to be strong, vulnerable, fearless and feminine. It’s one of harmony, humility, peace and joy all in one. You feel it as soon as I you step foot in the studio, get to know your teachers, fellow students and create real connections with this beautiful tribe.

I can’t wait to see you on the matt :) - Marlene

Hi, I’m Olivia! I started taking classes at Gypsy Waltz, and fell in love with the practice of yoga. Life can be stressful - I’m an attorney and an over-thinker - so having a space to completely unplug and focus on moving your body allows your mind to slow down and quiet the noise.

I believe all things can be done for God’s glory, and it has been so special to find a new way of worshipping my Savior. I can’t wait to grow with this community physically, mentally, and spiritually. See you on the mat!

  • Abigail Kemter

Cycle and Bounce Instructor New Braunfels

Hey yall, I’m Abby Kemter! I’m an avid runner, triathlete, and lover of all things cardio. Cycling became my way to heal my body and mind, and along the way I discovered how powerful movement can be, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

I started teaching because I wanted to share that feeling with others to create a space where people can challenge themselves, find strength, and feel proud of what their bodies can do. In my classes, I’m here to push you, cheer you on, and help you celebrate every victory big or small. Let’s ride hard, move with intention, and leave stronger than when we started. πŸ’›

Hope to see you in class, follow me on Instagram @deannalynncoleman

  • Angela Zwinggi

    Yoga Instructor New Braunfels

I found yoga about eight years ago after bouncing between every kind of workout you can think of. Nothing really stuckβ€”until I hit the mat. That first flow hit different, and I’ve been hooked ever since. What started as a workout turned into a lifestyleβ€”one that challenges me, grounds me, and keeps me growing.

My classes are a vibe: think big beats, strong power flows, and intentional movement that pushes you past your comfort zone. You’ll sweat, you’ll laugh, and you’ll always leave feeling more connectedβ€”to your body, your breath, and something bigger than yourself.

Yoga doesn’t have a finish lineβ€”and that’s what makes it magic. I’m here for the growth, the grind, and the grace. Let’s move together at Gypsyβ€”come ready to show up, level up, and be unapologetically you.

  • Alyssa Edgerton

    Cycle Instructor New Braunfels

Hi, my name is Alyssa! My passion for being an instructor began back in 2019 when I first started teaching at CycleBar in Midland, TX. Since then, my love for leading a room, building community, and uplifting others through movement has only grownβ€”and I’m so excited to bring that same energy to Gypsy!

With a background in health and exercise science and years of experience as a nurse, I have a deep appreciation for what our bodies are capable of. On the bike, my classes are high-energy, rhythm-driven, and all about leaving you stronger, lighter, and more confident than when you walked in. Expect good vibes, sweaty smiles, and playlists that make you want to dance on the bike! For me, it’s more than just a workoutβ€”it’s about connection, empowerment, and having a whole lot of fun along the way.

When I’m not at the studio, I’m either working as an aesthetic nurse injector,  curating floral arrangements for my small business, Two T’s Flower Shop, or spending time outside. Whether I’m in my scrubs, TIEMs, or surrounded by stems, my goal is always the same: to help others feel confident, empowered, and inspired.

I can’t wait to see you in class and ride it out together!

  • Brooke McClure

    Kettlebell Instructor New Braunfels

Hi, I’m Brooke McClure. For over 15 years, I’ve built a true appreciation for fitness, developing a strong passion for weight training and exploring many ways to moveβ€”through yoga, hiking, cycling, and golf. Core strength and mobility are especially important to me, and they’re at the center of how I approach both my own training and the classes I lead.

My kettlebell and rowing classes are energetic, fun, and uplifting, designed to challenge you while reminding you that we can do hard things! I believe in pushing limits while respecting your body, modifying when needed, and celebrating progress along the way.

I’m thrilled to be part of the Gypsy Waltz team and can’t wait to grow, sweat, and thrive together. I hope to see you in class soon!

  • Macy Bucek

    Yoga Instructor New Braunfels

Originally from Arlington, I moved to New Braunfels in 2014 and have loved river-town life ever since.  Outside the studio, you can usually find me outdoors with my fiancΓ©β€” fly fishing, catching live music, or at home with our crew of three cats and a dog, working on a puzzle and watching murder mysteries or sports.

Six years ago, I took my first hot yoga class at Gypsyβ€” completely lost and searching for peace. This studio brought me back to myself, gave me clarity, and changed my life. Today, I get to teach in the very room where it all began and I couldn’t be more grateful.

  • Melanie Leeves

    Yoga Instructor New Braunfels

I have always loved working out being a former ballerina and runner.  I started practicing yoga in 1994. I discovered that in 1999 I wanted a deeper understanding so I started my self practice (mysore) and began to develop a love for Ashtanga yoga.  I practiced Ashtanga solely until 2013.  I opened my heart to other types of yoga and realized I have a love for the practice and a desire to share my passion with others.  I received my RYT 200 hr and continued to practice yoga at Gypsy Waltz until finally gaining the opportunity to teach, practice and share community with my friends at Gypsy Waltz.  I love teaching Barre, Bounce, yoga, KB & TRX.  I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

Hi everyone! My name is Paityn Lorencz and I’m from Santa Barbara, California. I love wake surfing, snowboarding, and any outdoor activity.

I’ve always loved working out and when coming to Oxford, I was looking for a studio that showed a sense of community and that’s exactly what I found at GWS.

I started cycling in high school when I was looking for upbeat, fun workout. Cycling has always been a way I relieve stress and connect my mind and body. In my classes, I want to create a space people can come to disconnect from any outside stress and have fun while working out.

Gypsy has been a huge part of my college experience and I hope I can give the same experience I’ve had to others as well!

  • Blair Brewer

    Barre and Kettlebell Instructor Oxford

Hi, I’m Blair! 🀍 I’m a wife and mom, a lover of good music, and I’m happiest with a good cup of coffee in hand and a little Gypsy in my day. β˜•οΈ Family is at the heart of pretty much everything I do.

I love a feel-good flow, but I also love turning up the intensity and adding that little extra burn that makes you feel like you really did something!

My practice has become so much more than just a flow for me. It’s my time to clear my head, challenge myself, recharge, and do something that makes me feel good. That feeling is a big part of why I fell in love with teaching.

One of my favorite things is getting to share that time with others. I want my class to be a place where you can walk in exactly as you are, enjoy the music, focus on your mind & heart, challenge yourself, and maybe surprise yourself a little along the way.

More than anything, I hope you leave class feeling stronger, happier, and proud that you took a little time for YOU. 🀍✨

A community of fellow believers who love to encourage one another not just within the four walls of the studio but in everyday life as well.

I have always had a passion for fitness and feel that since we are created in the likeness of Christ, that our bodies are our temples. With that comes the responsibility to care for our bodies in a way that glorifies the Lord, and what better way to do that than with friends and a fun workout! I hope you will come join me in the studio and become a new workout bestie!!!

I’ve grown to love the studio, the community, and especially the faith-based foundation that makes Gypsy so special to me.

Over the past four years of practicing yoga, I’ve learned that yoga is so much more than the physical practice. The spiritual side of yoga has completely changed the way I see myself, the people around me, and the world. It has taught me to slow down, be present, let go of what I can’t control, and create a deeper connection between my mind, body, and spirit.

I’m so excited to share the practice that has given me so much with the Gypsy community and hopefully help others find that same sense of connection, peace, and joy. 🀍

  • Ashlee Molck

    Rowlates Instructor Oxford

Hi my name is Ashlee and I teach Rowlates!

When I first started working at Gypsy Waltz, I never could have imagined the impact it would have on my life. What started as simply a job quickly became a place that felt like home and a community that I truly believe God placed in my life for a reason.

One of the biggest blessings Gypsy Waltz has given me is the opportunity to teach Rowlates. Becoming an instructor has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow into a more confident and stronger version of myself. There is something so special about getting to walk into a room, lead a class, encourage others, and watch people realize just how strong and capable they are. I may be the one teaching the class, but the people who show up have taught me just as much in return.

Gypsy Waltz has also given me relationships that mean more to me than I could ever put into words. The people here have supported me, believed in me, and encouraged me to become the person I am today. It has shown me how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you grow and succeed.

Most importantly, Gypsy Waltz has strengthened my relationship with God. Looking back, I can see that He was working through this opportunity long before I understood what it would become. I thought I was starting a job, but God was leading me toward a purpose, a community, and a place where I would grow in ways I never expected. Teaching Rowlates has reminded me that God can use the things we are passionate about to encourage and pour into other people.

Gypsy Waltz has changed so much about my life. It has given me confidence, purpose, friendships, and a community that I am endlessly grateful for. It has taught me to trust God’s timing and to remember that sometimes His biggest blessings begin as opportunities we never expected.

Gypsy Waltz will always hold such a special place in my heart because it is so much more than where I work or where I teach Rowlates. It is a part of my story, and I truly believe God knew exactly what He was doing when He brought me here.
